And the Grammy for Best Metal Performance goes to … a guy with a flute? Really? Ian Anderson probably laughed all the way back to his salmon farm about this one, but Metallica fans are probably still miffed.

Hard to argue with Best Pop Vocal Performance (Male) that year. Sam Cooke was nominated for this timeless song, but the Grammy went to Ray Charles for this classic. Cooke might have won a Grammy in 1957 for his beautiful "You Send Me", but Grammy’s first year of awards was 1958. A snub indeed.
Steely Dan over Eminem and Radiohead

If it had been 1972, Steely Dan would be a good guess to win Album of the Year. This year, Radiohead, sure. Eminem, yes. Steely Dan?!? The listening public collectively scratched their heads.

While we wouldn't go that far -- we love Madonna (you have no idea), but people give her so much credit as a pop innovator you'd think she built the first synthesizer with her bare hands -- it's impossible to not see the thematic and melodic parallels between Her Madgesty's pop classic and Gaga's latest club jam.
If imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery, Madonna should be feeling pretty good this morning. Lady Gaga to release single early
Lady Gaga is slated to perform at the 2011 Grammy awards.
"Can't wait any longer, single coming Friday," the 24-year-old wrote on her Twitter feed Monday.
Lady Gaga revealed on Twitter that she plans to release her newest single, "Born This Way," on Friday . She had originally planned to release it at an awards show on Sunday.

Linkin Park are planning to tour, and you'll find plenty of classic-rock combos and solo packages: Santana, Steve Miller, the Moody Blues, REO Speedwagon, Jethro Tull and other boomer stalwarts will be on the road.
