Alleged beating of teen, Chad Holley, by Houston police caught on tape, video released

Houston activist Quanell X shows a videotape of an alleged 2010 beating of a 15-year-old burglary suspect by Houston police on Thursday.
A newly released video appears to show four Houston police officers brutally kicking and stomping on a teenage burglar -- whose family has since filed a federal lawsuit over the beating.

The disturbing footage, captured by a security camera on March 24, aired for the first time on Wednesday.

Chad Holley, a high school sophomore, was eventually booked on a burglary charge, convicted by a Harris County jury and put on probation. The tape was not shown at his trial.

In the footage, Holley is seen on the ground surrounded by at least five officers. The tape shows him being kicked in the head, stomach and lower body by the cops even after he is placed in handcuffs.

Police said Holley was taken into custody after a brief chase after he and three others burglarized a home.

Twelve officers were disciplined, and four have been fired and face official oppression charges for intentionally subjecting someone to mistreatment. A federal judge had barred the release of the footage before the trial.

The video was leaked Wednesday to KTRK-TV by community activist Quanell X.

Houston Mayor Annise Parker said she was disgusted by the video and denied accusations that the city was trying to conceal the footage.
